TOWING AND RECOVERY VEHICLES
Our vehicles are equipped with auto-shift transmissions and heavy-duty Meritor drive axles enabling a theoretical Gross Combination Mass (GCM) of 100 tonnes enabling safe recovery of stricken vehicles in undulating and mountainous terrain. Vehicles are also equipped with heavy-duty cooling systems, radiator mountings, fuel tank and cab mountings designed for prolonged extreme off-road use.
The Western Star 4964 custom-built wrecker trucks are fitted with NRC Industries and Century recovery equipment and Cummings ISX 475 engines producing 500 hp at 1700 rpm. We recently acquired two Volvo FMX440 wreckers which will be used to service the N4 corridor. These are designed for cost-effective towing of vehicles up to and including fully loaded interlink combinations. Each have a 25 tonne winch and three-stage Zaclift under-lift capable of towing vehicles in excess of 56 tonne.
